7 days tour of Naadam festival & Golden Eagle hunters

Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Upon your arrival at the airport you will be greeted by your guide and driver who will take you to your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, have half a day of city tour including Sukhbaatar square, Choijin temple and National History museum. (Hotel; D)

Day 2: Naadam Festival opening ceremony

After breakfast you will be driven to the opening ceremony of the Naadam Festival in the main stadium of Ulaanbaatar. Naadam is one of the most ancient festivals in Mongolia and it is celebrated widely for nearly a month all over the country. Each region celebrates it on different dates. Three manly games of Naadam, wrestling, horse racing and arching, were originally created to test the stamina, strength and mastery of nomads. The horses race for 15-30 km in six age groups. After the opening ceremony, attend Naadam gala dinner and folk concert. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Hotel; B,L,D)

Day 3: Horse racing and Khustai national park

On the second day of the Naadam festival, you will drive to Hui Doloon Hudag for horse racing. Enjoy the most anticipated race of 5 year old horses. Have a lunch at Khustai National park. Hike in the park and you might be able to see Przewarski horses if they are grazing near by. Stay in a hotel overnight in a hotel. (Hotel; B,L,D)

Day 4: Eagle hunters family at Tolbo lake

Fly from Ulaanbaatar to Bayan-Ulgii at 14:20 and land at 17:20. Your guide and driver will pick you up from the local airport. Meet your driver and guide. Upon arrival in Ulgii drive to Kazakh Eagle hunter’s family. 100km, 3hrs of driving. On the way to our host family we will see lake Tolbo. Bayan-Ulgii is a very mountainous area, almost 70% of the area located more than 2000m from the sea level. Stay overnight with Kazakh family.

Day 5: Eagle hunters family at Ulaan Ulke lake

Stay in the ger. Share experience of Kazakh nomadic family lifestyle, food and traditions. Holding the Golden Eagle on your hand and have taken your pictures. Have a full day involving in their daily activities like milking the yaks, making a dairy products as well as how to make textiles. Stay in ger. We will hiking to Ulaan Ulke lake.

Day 6: Eagle hunter’s family at Green lake

Today we will hike to Green lake and visit other nomadic families. Stay in ger. Afternoon drive back to Ulgii. Stay in ger camp in Ulgii. In the evening enjoy Kazakh traditional music and songs. /Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/

Day 7: Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast you will fly back to Ulaanbaatar, which will take about an hour and a half. Once you settle at your hotel your guide will take you for souvenir and cashmere shopping and short city tour. (Hotel; B,L,D)
