Travel from Ulaanbaatar:

Flights depart from Ulaanbaatar every day to nearby Dalanzadgad city. From here the cliffs are a 2 hour drive to the west on rough roads

Driving from Ulaanbaatar takes around 8 – 10 hours travelling on good roads to Dalanzagad and then poor roads to the cliffs.

Advice:

During the day there is a small antiques market on top of the cliffs that is worth checking out.

Be sure to see the cliffs at both sunrise and sunset as the sight is truly amazing.

There are several camps in the area as well as many nomad families that all provide accommodation.

Wear loose fitting clothes, a sunhat and suncream at all times during the summer as temperatures here are very high, also drink plenty of water.

There are many paths across the cliffs but you should exercise caution when climbing or walking to avoid the risk of slipping and erosion.
