Khuvsgul is a remote area of northern Mongolia inhabited by Siberian nomads, Tsaatan reindeer herders and Shaman mystics. This tour is particularly meant to give you a taste of one of the most remote areas of Mongolia and to introduce you to the lifestyles of a genuinely nomadic people whose numbers are sadly dwindling in the modern age.

Day 1- Ulaanbaatar to Khovsgol lake
A driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and take you to the airport. After and hour and a half of domestic flight from Ulaanbaatar to Moron your guide and driver will meet you at the airport and take you to the lake. It takes 2 hours from Moron to lake Khovsgol by car and on the way you will stop over the small town called Khatgal to visit boat museum and local market. From there you will have another short car journey to the west side of the lake where you will stay in a teepee overnight right by the shore of the lake. It is a truly magical location that is surrounded by pine forest and pristine clear blue water of Khovsgol lake.
Day 2 Reindeer herders
After breakfast, you will meet one of the most distinctive and unique ethnic groups in the world. Tsaatan people or reindeer herders lead a significantly different nomadic lifestyle compared to central Mongolian ethnic groups. Your guide will help you to learn about the Tsaatan people’s traditions, culture and way of life in the deep forests of Sayan Mountain. Dinner and overnight stay in a ger camp.
Day 3 Exploring lake Khovsgol
Today your guide will organise horse riding, rafting and a boat trip over the lake for you. Enjoy the quietness and beauty of blue pearl of Mongolia (Khuvsgul lake) in comfort
Day 4 Ulaanbaatar
In the morning you will be driven back to Mörön airport for the return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in the city you can choose to stay at the Mongolian Secret History camp in the countryside to the north or at a hotel in Ulaanbaatar.
Included in the price: All of your Mongolian accommodation in hotels and ger camps; all breakfast, lunches and dinners whilst in Mongolia; bottled drinking water is also provided throughout the tour; Mongolian local transport, personal guide, translator, driver and entrance to all attractions mentioned in the itinerary.
