Travel from Ulaanbaatar:
A 20 hour straight drive from Ulaanbaatar on mixed roads or a 4 hour flight to Bayan Olgiiy (flights twice a week) and then a 5 hour drive on and off road.
Advice:
Dress warm, even during summer this is a cold area
Some Mongolians believe that the lake is the home of spirits and may be surprised if you choose to go swimming so try and act sensitively
If you do choose to swim then be prepared for very cold water
Lake freezes over from October until March each year
